Our dream is to open a new larger store on the mountain to better serve ALL of Hamilton. We currently have a store in Dunnville and 2 in lower Hamilton. We do not have one on the Mountain and would love to serve this area better.
But we know this will take a lot of funding. If we can’t come up with enough funding for a new store we would like to try and expand our store on Parkdale as it’s currently too small and very cramped.
So, to raise these funds we will be running events i.e., dinner dance, silent auction, golf tournament and more to raise funds. We will also be and applying for grants to charitable foundations. We will also be seeking donations from corporations and individuals, anyone who is willing to help us. Please watch this short video about our store https://ssvphamiltonpc.org/support-our-stores/. One of the key points here is that ALL profits go to help people in need, not every thrift store can say that.
We sometimes get asked if there a need for a store on the mountain?
Contrary to what many people believe, we have found that there absolutely is a need for a thrift store on the mountain whose purpose will be to help the vulnerable. There are a great many people in need on the Mountain, with most of these folks living in hidden pockets and, therefore, not easily seen. We know from our many calls and visits how much need does in fact exist in this area. For many of these vulnerable people other stores, including the for profit thrift stores, are unaffordable for them.
For the people most in need we provide items for free because we believe that every person deserves to have their basic needs met whether they can afford to pay or not. Our service is very helpful and appreciated by them. We will continue to maintain a store in the downtown area since, as you know, many vulnerable people there will still need to be served. With a store on the Mountain and Downtown, it is our goal to try to serve ALL of Hamilton.
But we know this will take a lot of funding. If we can’t come up with enough funding for a new store we would like to try and expand our store on Parkdale as it’s currently too small and very cramped.
“Even a new warehouse would be a huge help to us”.
